This handout is formatted to resemble The National Enquirer brand of yellow journalism. Salacious headlines screamed at readers revealing the sordid life of Mary Firth, often called Moll, for our study of The Roaring Girl.

The headlines are mostly true. All, even those that are not true, were said of Firth during her lifetime. I passed the handout around the room then read each sensational headline in turn, then explained the facts behind each headline before moving on to the next. Feel free to use this approach if it will work for your students.
